Wow, what an amazing time away! Things just all worked out perfectly and we couldn’t of asked for a better reception, simply amazing! We flew into SF on Thursday and drove Michael’s parents car down to Monterey. We arrived at our friends place, who was away for the weekend and offered us her place to stay. It was actually at the same apartments that my Nonna use to live in… that was hard but brought back awesome memories of her! We settled in and then met my dad and his friend at PF Changs for dinner. We were starving and wanted to go somewhere we knew would have things we could have and have enough of!! Of course, got my GA PF Changes Lettuce wraps. From dinner, we went to another hot spot closer to my dads for a glass of wine. His friend was going to be unable to make it to our reception so wanted to take us out and treat us to a nice night. We enjoyed the relaxing time out. We called it a night around 10ish and headed back to go to bed. Friday a.m. we woke up and went for a 4 mile run. We actually ran along the bike path to my dad’s house, visited with him and then walked back. It is such a nice walk/run. So pretty and the weather could not have been better! We then stopped off for breakfast at a hot breakfast restaurant where we got egg white omelets. We had some errands to run before getting ready for the night. We ended up running our errands and stopping off at the Wharf for a seafood Salad from Old Fisherman’s Grotto, to die for! We enjoyed lunch and then it was time to get ready. We got all ready to go and headed out to the reception, which was in Pacific Grove at a golf course. We got there and my aunt and dad’s friend were busy putting everything together and it was amazing. My aunt had a candy bar, I know candy… but they are so beautiful. Big vases of candy (m & m’s, kisses, licorice, etc.) with bags, labeled with our Names, for people to fill up! The Candy bar was beautiful with photos and love quotes!! Then all the tables had frames with quotes and pictures, candles, shells and beautiful flowers. They had prepared tons of food from Smoked salmon to shrimp, breads, cheeses, meat balls, and a veggie platter. It was amazing. The band started playing shortly after people arrived. My dad had arranged for a fantastic Blues Band. They rocked it. I have a few video clips but am trying to figure out how to save and post them… I will post them as soon as I figure it out. We danced all night. There were about 80 people that came and it just was amazing. Everything went so smooth, no stress, no drama, no one out of control, just amazing! We were so thankful for everyone who helped put it together, so unexpected! Monterey is such a small town, every one knows everyone so it is really cool when you get people together that go way back. Many people grew up on the same streets and go that far back! Hard to find a town that has so much history! It was really neat to have everyone together, friends, close family and family/friends I hadn’t seen in years or even hadn’t met before. We had a blast!! I will post photos throughout the week. Since the even ended around 8:45, we headed out to dinner with a group of 12 and then out to listen to more music at a local spot. We ended up staying up chatting until about 2 a.m. (that doesn’t happen often) and then hit the pillow. Saturday we woke up and headed out. We stopped at Whole Foods before hitting the road and got some healthy bites! We relaxed and then took off last night around 6 getting back into SD around 7:30. Only thing that happened is unfortunately we made it but our bag didn’t. I am waiting for them to deliver it now! Good thing there wasn’t anything we absolutely needed but just a little inconvenience. Oh well, worth the bag delay for such a great time!!! Today was back to the grind.
