The race is on, the gun has been shot and we are off. Some leave the finish line giving it all they’ve got while others pace themselves and understand that there is a long journey ahead! Some are moving so fast, focusing on time, while others are on cruise control, making strides, just at a slower pace. The two paths are quite different yet the desired end result the same… cross the finish line. What path are you taking? Are you out, running your hardest and trying to make it to the line as fast as you can or are you taking in the scenery, enjoying your race at a consistent, slow and steady pace? It is up to you how you run your race? Sprinters tend to hit is hard and strong and at some point more likely to lose their gas. Marathoners are more likely to reserve their energy stores and maintain a steady pace. This healthy fitness lifestyle is about consistency and daily strives towards our long term goals but enjoyment along the way. This week, something to consider, what path are you taking? Are you hitting the pavement with an all out sprint, trying to get to that finish line as fast as possible or are you going for the steady yet slower pace, keeping your strides consistent from now until the finish line?
Consider the quality of your race vs. the quantity of steps taken to get there. Time is going to pass and distance is going to be covered but consider what path you are taking, distance or time?
So, what happens if you’re still at the starting line?! I had big plans for 2010, but did nothing still! I am so upset with myself. However, my goal for 2011 is to become a morning person and wake up and do my cardio on my eliptical at 5am so when I get off work it’s only weight lifting left! My NY Resolution is to become a clean eater (90% of the time – i’m being realistic here!) and exercise consistently to get back to pre-baby weight! Dig Deep!!! 🙂 I even have my food journal to keep track in so I can transfer to your site every week!
If you are still at the starting line, start today! Don’t sit there, thinking about what you didn’t do in 2010 rather, start today with the starting line, only thinking about the finish line and steps that lie ahead, rather than the steps you did not take. If your goal is to wake up and do cardio (great goal, by the way) the gun goes off now and you begin tomorrow. You have stated your REALISTIC goals and that is the first step. You have already taken the first steps! Keep your self moving forward… Love the fact that you are going to utilize your log! Keep up the great work Jenn! This time next year, finish line! 🙂
