Good Morning Everyone! Well we made it to SF after a long drive to the city. We left before 6 a.m. and took off not forgetting a thing but our jackets. Can you believe that… after an hour on the road, we realized the one thing we forgot were our heavy North Face jackets. It is easy to forget when you are sitting in SD where the weather is bright and cheery to forget to pack your jackets for the snow… oh well, good things we are staying with relatives and can easily borrow. I am sitting here looking outside and it is grey and foggy… suppose to clear up in a few but as of now, looks like it is going to be a cold and foggy typical Bay Area day… Headed off to the gym in a bit to bring out the sunshine, if not outside than within… that is how we do it.
So we got to Salinas to drop off the bedroom set around 1, unloaded and then headed to drop off the Uhaul and CHECK, another thing off the list. Now I get to put together the guest bedroom as I want, adding a Futon, photos, a mini weight set, etc. I am planning on making the room into a relaxing haven to chill, r&r, welcome guests and also offer a place to stretch, use the weights and stretch! Now a new project to focus on… 🙂
After dropping off the set, we went to meet my dad and went to grab a bite to eat with him and some of his friends at a local “Cook House”. It was delicious. They had a delicious artichoke on the menu as an appetizer so Michael and I shared that and had Chicken Skewers with Veggies for our entree. It was a perfectly healthy and clean meal! Around 7 we said good bye and headed up to Redwood City, which is where we are staying for the weekend. Redwood is about 40 minutes South of the city so away from all the hustle and bustle but yet still close to drive in to SF for some action. Tomorrow the Bay to Breakers is in SF and we leave around 5 a.m. to take the train in. It should be a fun and exciting day! Hearing stories of people dressing up and trying to beat costume records already… oh geezzz going to be fun. You have to pick your mile time to complete the B2B and we chose a reasonable time so we can people watch as we “run/walk”. We chose to run a 10-11 minute mile so that is a perfect pace to get a little running/walking/people watching. The race starts at 8 and we should be done and accomplished by late a.m. We plan on spending the day in the city and not making plans.
My turkey balls and snacks for the road worked out perfectly and not having to stop for food but did stop for a coffee and waters. Not bad, we were more prepared than I thought! Turkey Balls make great road trip meals. yummy and easy to eat finger food! I made some 99% lean for me and 93% lean for Michael.
Turkey Balls (per tray of ground turkey)
1 tray 16 oz ground turkey
2 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp fresh parsley
1/2 c. oatmeal
1 tbsp olive oil
1 egg white
mix all together, make into patties and bake or bbq until golden brown on outside and moist in the inside.
I will be getting to the forum posts, if I can, otherwise when I return. Thanks for your patience.
Off to the gym now to get in some cardio and circuit style training… Hope everyone has an amazing Saturday and if the sun is out, please send some my way!
bug hugs from the Bay Area!
