Good Morning Everyone! Hope you slept sound! I went to bed before M arrived… to back up a bit… I got a call around 11:30 a.m. (7.5 hours later) that he had reached Summit! I could hardly hear him, with the wind. He basically said he was at the top and that it was long. I was so proud of him. Just imagine that, at the top, looking down, accomplished and dug deep the whole 1500 feet up!! He called me again when he was on his way home. They reached bottom at 6:00 p.m. I still haven’t gotten too much info from him. He was driving back with friends and said he was really tired and hungry… I was asleep when he got home and am dying to get all the nitty gritty details, along with photos and hopefully video! I am so proud of him!! This morning I woke up to his phone alarm going off at 3:15, as that was the time they set to get up and begin their climb. As I was barely walking downstairs to turn off his phone, I was imagining him the day before, about to begin his journey up the mountain, WOW… intense! Imagine, you are hardly waking up to begin on your way to cardio… maybe 40-50 minutes with normal elevation now imagine waking up to know you are about to embark upon an 11 mile hike up and back so 22 miles total with elevation… Now that is just Crazy! Anyways, as we all mentioned, we all have our personal mountains to climb! I will keep you all posted with the details and more later! Hopefully I get a girl’s version and not a male version.
Female: “oh my gosh, so we started our journey, I was nervous, … I was dying at mile 5 but kept pushing through…It was so amazing, the fresh air, oh my gosh and nature, bla bla bla”
vs.
Male: “It was great! Long but it was awesome!!”
We will see ….
Here is the thought for the day and this come directly from our Lovely Jim Rohn….
“You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are they doing to me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”
Isn’t this what we have been talking about… more questions to make you ponder…. All questions bringing you closer to knowing WHO YOU are and what YOU are all about, in our quest for constant personal growth!!
Have an amazing day everyone!
hugs,
Gina

Way to go Michael! Gina I am crackin up at your female and male versions!! hahaha Love it and soo true! I hope you get the female version too! Have a great Wednesday!!!
That it is too cool – awesome job Michael! I love how guys are so adventurous. Greg has been talking about doing a sports race for the past 2 years and he finally did it 2 weeks ago! it was a race with hiking, biking and canoeing! Our guys rock – don’t they just keep you motivated. Michael sounds like an awesome guy – you are one lucky girl!
Thanks for the quote to reassure me of that fact that I want to change and pursue my own personal growth!
Have an awesome day
I’m with Traci. You were cracking me up as well with the male/female version! So true too! But if there’s one thing I’ve learned in my life, it’s to definitely NOT expect a male to tell a female version of anything. Yep, 3 brothers and 43 years later I think I finally understand that!! LOL!!!
Jenn, how fun that Greg did that adventure race. That sounds like a lot of fun. Your guys DO rock, I have to say.
Another day is upon us! I’m having to battle the “you’re too skinny” comments at work today. Why, you ask? Because today I didn’t have time to dry my hair so it’s slicked back and up into a ponytail which makes me look thin. One patient asked if I’m sick and I responded with, “Do I look sick?” And she said that I definitely don’t. “No, I’m definitely not. I’m just eating well and working out a lot.” Her response, “Oh, that must be it. I never have worked out (she’s 70).” She’s a smoker and clearly not all that healthy. I had to laugh. Another patient told me to put on some weight. “You’re too skinny.” Oh Lord!!! Skinny I am not. Perhaps lean, yes…but skinny no! I think this is the most negative feedback I’ve gotten on this journey. I don’t go into any kind of explanation about competing because it’s just not worth it for most people and since most of our patients are over 65 it’s something they definitely wouldn’t agree with or even be able to understand. At least I know where I’m headed, what my journey is all about. Without that I would really have a hard time with these comments. Also if I didn’t feel so good and know what I’ve learned about myself and others through this journey, again those comments would be hard to take. Lucky for me that is not the case. I just feel like I’m coming into my own through this journey.
Well, I guess I had an opinion on that one, didn’t I?!? LOL!! Here’s to another day! Oh, and Gina, I know you’re a sunshine girl so I’m thinking of you each day it decides to be “January” here!!! Sunshine within, that’s the best we can do!
Gina….I LOVE THE QUOTE FOR TODAY from Jim Rohn. OMG…..SO TRUE AND SOMETHING TO DEFINITELY THINK ABOUT!!!! Some people around me are NOT okay…and I don’t like what they are telling me. So enough is enough!
And Erin….I’ve SOOOOOOOOO been there with work people putting in their 2 cents! UGH….I often wonder how much they would appreciate it if I came by their offices and heckled them when they were eating all of their junk food and saying, “OMG…You’re so fat!” “You don’t look healthy”. They would be super offended right? So how come its ok in reverse????? LOL hmmmmm……
I would NEVER dream of being that mean either but the nerve of people really amazes me.
We just gotta stick to our plan girl! Eye on the prize and forget the outside distractions! We have each other and this wonderful place to motivate us daily and I feel so lucky to have found you guys.
xo eryn
Thanks Eryn! So true! Some people have some nerve. You’re right though, just forget the outside distractions. But those were our morning patients. Now this afternoon one patient said, “Wow Erin! You look fantastic! You look so healthy.” And the other one (male with a girlfriend) said, “You really look great. It suits you. You look HOT!” So, you just never know. But beyond all that people say it’s just funny to me that no matter what I look like on the outside, it’s what I feel on the inside that matters most. And I really feel terrific…which I definitely didn’t when I was heavier. I don’t explain that to them though…pretty sure they wouldn’t understand! Sticks and stones ya know! LOL! 🙂
Luckily my coworkers are all supportive. As is my boss. One day when I was eating one of my meals he said, “Your eating schedule must be quite a burden.” LOL! He’s awesome like that! He is a runner. He runs every day (at age 65) on his lunch hour and has done numerous marathons, including the Boston Marathon so my support within the office is really good actually. It’s the patients that come in every 3 months that don’t know what to think because they haven’t seen me in 3 months. No big deal.
Girls thanks for your comments!!! Michael slept in, good for him!! He is one sun burnt cookie! I did get the scoop and better yet he got footage and photos so rather than writing a novel, I will be posting photos and video footage tomorrow!! 🙂
Yes, Michael is quite the adventurous one! Good for Greg!! Wahoo… go Greg Go! How awesome!! He must feel amazing! Mission accomplished… They do just keep us motivated and we do the same for them! 🙂 Love seeing Michael do what he loves and that is purely accomplishing things and stepping outside of his box! He is quite a “navy Seal”, go figure that that is one thing he wishes he would of done… I am not going to lie, he is quite stud 😉
Erin, you are so right, Never expect a male to tell a female version… if that isn’t closer to the truth!! 😉
Thin/skinny comments.. isn’t that funny how those comments use to have put a smile on your face, maybe, but now, what SKINNY, I am NOT skinny! I am fit and toned! 🙂 Remember, it is just their perspective. Just like when someone refers to us as “bodybuilders. what they are really saying is wow, you look amazing, you are in fantastic shape! I learned that over time! Frustrated times but learned, they mean well, just don’t know how to put it… You are not skinny, thin, sick looking but Fit, Strong, Healthy, Bold and confident! Amazing how they they you aren’t eating or Sickly when really you are so far from and eating more than most people, yet losing weight, imagine that….
These comments can definitely get us, if we are new to them, but overtime, you learn to laugh. Especially when you realize that everyone is looking through their own kaleidoscope. You are coming into your own and that is part of the amazing process..
So happy for you and proud of you Erin for being a Duck and not letting these comments get you down. That is my girl! Just remember, what they are really saying is, “geez, you look amazing!! Keep up the great work, wish I could do what you are doing!”
Thanks for sending sun my way, I got some today! It was a beautiful day!!
Eryn, glad you liked the quote! Something that really makes you think and take seriously.
No outside deviations, that is for sure!! Eye on the prize!!!
love you girlies!!
Nothing like the support from others… Erin, glad you have it from your co-workers, that is key!! 🙂
That is sooo awesome!! Way to go Michael! 🙂 Can’t wait to see the pictures and the footage. What an accomplishment!
I am so proud of him!! I will post those today! can’t wait to share 🙂
