Good Morning Team! Hope you slept well! Okay so once again, waking up before my alarm, yes fantastic on the second wake up… the first being 1:30, okay what is up with that. Anyways was able to get back to bed and wake up just before my alarm was about to sound! I think maybe just a lot of my mind of what I have to do today before I take off and then the weekend ahead. I was able to pan fry my fish since my oven is still not working, urgggg! To be honest, when I travel, I like my fish nice and crispy on the outside, which is what the broiler does. It is easier to transport, decreases the odor and is easier to eat on the go without flaking and falling apart. Now if the fish is freshly made, than juicy and flaky is great but not when you are traveling… Unfortunately, pan frying it made it tender, juicy and moist. (great but not so great for travel) Oh, well what are you going to do… I thought about making a bunch of protein pancakes but looks like time is limited so I will have to see about timing… The good news about bringing fish to a competition is that the smell is not as obnoxious as when I brought it to M’s jiu-jitsu tournament since everyone else either has some in their cooler or understands πŸ˜‰ That makes it easier!
I am headed out the door on my walk now then to the gym, home to finishing packing, load the car and shower before heading back to the gym for a quick video shoot for my site and then off to LA…
I will keep you posted throughout the weekend, as much as I can! Thank you for your patience while I am away… If you are traveling for Memorial Day, remember your travel tips to make things easier on the road! πŸ™‚
I have been thinking a lot about our conversations about “post contest” and living the lifestyle and how everyone is striving for their ultimate goals! I want you to remember one thing, this is a marathon we are running not a sprint! Remember that you have to pace yourself and keep moving steadily and consistently towards the finish line and break that “all or nothing” mentality! Hey, just like the story of the tortoise and the hare… The ALL mentality of the hare didn’t win him the race and it was the slow and steady pace of the tortoise that won the race!
We are not superwomen and can not go 100% full speed ahead at all times! working out and eating strict 7x/week, avoiding all temptations, all social events, any fun that may come our way… that is NOT realistic and what that does is sets you up to fall off of our bandwagon and potentially lose faith and hope! You have to reestablish goals that are realistic and maintainable so you don’t fall off and you don’t lose hope and faith in yourself. It is all your approach to how we tackle things! If you set yourself up for this crazy unrealistic unhuman like plan, you are messing with fire! We are not perfect and there will be days or times when we miss a workout or have a piece of chocolate and that is what makes us human! If you had these inhuman expectations of yourself to NEVER miss a workout and NEVER break away from your plan, what you are doing is setting yourself up to either give up, be super down on yourself or revert back to old habits. You want to remember to see this as a long term process and goal and start to shift your mentality to a “tortoiselike” mentality! Slow down your pace, but stay on the path with the finish line in mind!!! Slow and steady… keeping up the consistency and we will get there! Remember this isn’t a sprint but a marathon we are running!
“If you want to run, run a mile. If you want to experience a different life, run a marathon.”~Emil Zatopek
Remember, this isn’t easy otherwise we all would be marathon runners but we all have the tools… we have our running shoes in the closet so let’s get them out and head out with a slow and steady pace we will get there!! Let’s go my friends!!
Have an amazing Friday!!! Happy Memorial Day weekend! For those traveling, travel safe and travel healthy! xo
