Wow that is a lot of stuff… As several of you know I am headed out of town tomorrow through the 26th but the party must go on while I am away! I will check in throughout the day and again tomorrow before taking off. I am excited to come back to more success stories. Just imagine what can be done in 12 days… You can make some serious progress is almost 2 weeks!
Today: Visualize and Act
We talk a lot about visualization and it is much deeper than just imagining what it is you want! Remember, as you are visualizing your goals, they must be concrete, specific and measurable. Similar to our S.M.A.R.T goals, when you imagine what you want you have to really see it down to the roots. You can;t just say, I want to be “fit”. You have no way of measuring if you ever are “fit” because what is “fit”. That is way to ambiguous! You must come up with a more specific vision that you actually define so you know when you have achieved them.
Vision your biggest dreams but you have to remember to be realistic about your time it will take you to get there. For example If your goal is to lose 50 lbs, that is amazing but be realistic and allow yourself the time to lose the weight rather than dreaming that by next month you will have this tremendous weight loss. A vision starts with a dream, but it also has to be timely and realistic. Do not be afraid to dream big. But also be realistic about the time it will take you to get from where you are right now to where you want to be.
A Vision is YOUR vision. It should be something you feel in your heart you want to achieve, not what someone else wants you to achieve!! It is a goal that we willingly and eagerly CHOOSE to pursue. Listen to yourself! If your goals make you feel frustrated, angry and resistant, then you are trying to force yourself into doing something that you do not want to do in the first place. But if you feel empowered, enthusiastic and inspired by your vision then you are on the right track! Be sure your Vision is YOUR own!
Once you have a vision, you must ACT!
Now that you have your vision and dream, you must act! Remember being busy does not mean you are acting! An action creates momentum and brings you closer to the results you want. Action has a clear direction. Being busy and just being in motion, on the other hand, is a movement that has no clear direction. You can stay busy all day long, but it does not mean that you are accomplishing anything. If you are not making any progress, think twice, you may be keeping yourself busy but not taking action!
We say preparation is key and yes it is but remember Preparation is not action. If your goal is “to get in shape by doing cardio a few times a week for a month, then everything you do before that (like buying running shoes, reading up on cardio tips, talking your friend into doing cardio with you, etc is all preparation. Now you are not acting until you put all your prep to work, and actually get those shoes on and GO! You must Prepare but then you Must Act!!
Talk the talk and walk the walk! Talking is not action. Talking about your dreams may help you to find like-minded people who will support you, but talking alone will not get you any closer to your goal. Remember, action is not something you say but something you do!
