Courage is the first of human virtues, because it makes the other virtues possible. Courage is like a muscle that grows stronger and more solid when you exercise it and, conversely, if you don’t use it, you lose it. Being courageous means daring to go beyond your comfort zone, to step out and push the boundaries of what you consider “safe”.
You can build the strength and commitment to act with courage by consistently embracing and practicing small acts of bravery, small acts that push you out of your zone. You work daily on building your muscles but how often do you exercise your courage muscle? Begin building your “courage muscle,” by taking time at the end of your day to reflect on and affirm the courage you practiced and be sure that each day you are utilizing this “muscle”. Visualize those moments and acknowledge that “Yes, You can!”
