Think about your “dieting” history. Have you been going after the same goals and dieting your whole life and yet never come in contact with your goals? First of all, the first reason is you need to stop dieting! Getting frustrated with your success and the lack of your success? If you are “dieting” and this is your situation, stop “dieting” and start living! The more you diet the farther away you are getting from your goals. Once you start to shift you mind into a realistic approach to life and all it has to offer, you will see things differently and start to see results. Rather than restrict yourself and see yourself on a diet, start to tell yourself that you can have anything and everything you want but the question is if you want it!?
Getting frustrated with your diet does you no good. Start today by eliminating the word and concept of diet from your vocabulary and start living. “Dieting” just makes you unhappy, unsuccessful and tense. Next time you start to feel frustrated with your weight loss progress, ask yourself if you are dieting or living?
A few things to keep in mind:
• Pay less attention to how much further you have to go and simply enjoy the journey. Stop asking yourself “are we there yet?” You’ll get there when you get there. Instead, look at the scenery, think about life, carry on a conversation, sing along with the radio, or simply be thankful for how far you’ve come and where you are headed.
• The journey is always more fun with a passenger. Do you have anyone there with you to be a part of your journey? If not, find a partner who can live life right there with you!
• Know the route you are on and the things you need to do to stay on track and reach your weight loss goals. If you see a road block, one telling you to go right and one telling you to go left, know which road is going to take you to your goals and take that road! Once you know where you are headed, it is much easier to know which road to take. As long as you stay pointed in the right direction, you’ll get there. Even in the worst situations, you will still get to your destination at some point. Once you are on the lifestyle route, rather than the “diet route” it is the same thing, just a matter of time. It may take longer than you first expected, but you will get there.
• There will always be periods of stopping and starting. It’s something that you should just anticipate and allow for. No use getting upset or stressed about not making progress. It’s a normal part of the journey.
• Sometimes, you’ve just gotta go with the flow of what’s going on around you. Life can present some situations that you really can’t do anything about. When that happens, staying straight and steady , doing the best that you can, will keep you on track and sane. If you are impatient, you may stop or change directions and in the end, usually won’t get any farther along than you do by staying put and going with the flow. Be patient!
• Shortcuts never work, period!
• Trying to reach your destination too fast never works. Dieting is trying to reach your goals too fast. If you just embrace the lifestyle road, you will not crash and WILL reach your destination.
Today, stop dieting and start living!!
