Q: You don’t seem to recommend Whey Protein too much – any particular reason?
A: OH yes, I absolutely DO!!  Possibly you notice I focus on more whole foods but there is a time and a place for Whey! (especially, in emergencies and pre and post workout!!!)
Here is why I definitely do recommend whey!!
Whey protein:
-Out of the many protein sources out there, whey protein is the ultimate.
-It comes from milk.
-Whey protein has the highest value in providing branched-chain amino acids, which result in building and retaining muscle tissue.
-It provides the body with the necessary building blocks to produce amino acids that are used for building muscle tissue. (Not to mention been seen to benefit hormones, & the immune system)
-consistent whey protein intake coupled with exercise will result in consistent muscle building.
-the content from high quality whey protein not only can, but will help one’s muscles recover and grow faster.
-Whey protein allows a person to control his or her diet effectively.
-Whey protein is fast digesting, so it’s ideal for when you need it quickly. The most common times whey is used is first thing in the morning, post and post workout.
-Whey can also be mixed with casein protein and taken between meals as a meal replacement.
-Whey protein has the highest BV value, and is the richest source of BCAAs of any protein. This means it is far superior to any other type of protein for muscle building, weight loss and general health.
-Casein protein does have its place too. Casein protein is absorbed much slower by the body (up to about 7 hours) hence why it is called a slow digesting protein. This means it’s ideal for a “night time” supplement, taken before bed. Great to repair muscle tissue during sleep.
-You can also add a good fat to your whey to slow down the absorption!
-Whey protein is a soluble, very easy to digest protein. It quickly enters the body to provide the important essential amino acids needed to nourish muscles and other body tissues. Hence why it is such a great post workout meal, it immediately gets shuttled into your system for recovery!!

See why I love whey! 🙂
