Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I am getting acclimated to being back in action, trying to get things taken care of around the house… oh yes, it is that time of the year too, tax season! Trying to prepare everything and gosh I get such a headache (Jenn, I don’t know how you do it!) Other than that I have taken 2 days off from the gym, yesterday and today! I have been so slammed that I just decided to take a few days off, head back tomorrow and then Monday starting my initial mini prep for my wedding! Todays menu was the following
meal 1: 6 egg whites, 1/2 c. quinoa warm and all mix with my egg whites cinnamon and stevia πŸ˜‰
meal 2: 1 scoop protein shake, 1 rice cake with one tbsp natural almond butter and 1 small apple
meal 3: green beans, 1/4 c. brown rice and 4 oz white fish
meal 4: same as meal #2
meal 5: 1 scoop protein shake
meal 6 — cooking now– veggie omelet with onions, mushrooms, asparagus, green beans and 5 egg whites
meal 7- carb free protein pancakes in my mini pan πŸ™‚ Can’t wait…
I did a 2 mile walk with Bruno today and can’t wait to get myself back into the gym tomorrow. Michael and I went out to eat last night for his belated birthday and had a nice time. Of course made smart choices.. we had a bottle of wine and I ordered
-grilled halibut
we shared a house salad and had a side of cauliflower and zucchini
Sounds healthy right… it was delicious but let me tell you, we don’t ever use salt and boy was it salty!! Gosh, it made me realize how and why we eat in all the time. It was VERY pricey and to be honest with you the food was good but ours is better. I just like to know what I am eating. If I am going to have a refuel meal, I like to make it myself so I can still use fresh healthy items just different than on my usual plan!
So we ate “healthy” and it was 6x what it would of cost us to cook at home. And “healthy” is not so healthy when you go out. How are you going to go to a super nice restaurant and modify so I went with the flow, made smart choices but let me tell you salt, salt, butter and more salt! Even though the food sounds clean trust me on a calorie count, it wasn’t. It was delicious but not what we consider clean! It is nice to go out and appreciate cooking and dining but I have to be honest, It is hard for me to spend that kind of money for food that tastes like salt and then today to feel like a water buffalo… is it worth it?? SO many times we just opt to stay in, unless it is our places you don’t feel funny modifying.. if you know what I mean. You really can’t go to the finest of places and say… “no this, no that, leave this on the side, etc…. ” it is just rude in some places. Also because it was a special occasion, I thought it would be best to go with the flow! Now if I ordered Alfredo, of course it is going to come calorie dense but I do not expect grilled fish, cauliflower and veggies to come loaded with unnecessary calories! I have to say, even the salad, without dressing, tasted salty, really!!!???? yes, it did!! How is that? I have no problem eating the calories where they are due but I don’t like wasting them on veggies soaked in butter, etc. None the less, aside from the salt, we had an amazing time and the ambiance was phenomenal!
It just makes you think about salt and a typical person’s diet, what we are use to and how ordinary we are for cooking and eating the way we do… give yourself a big pat on the back! πŸ˜‰
Those are the times though, you have to appreciate, enjoy the time spent together and just know next time that if you go out, you better hydrate with 2 gallons of water and then have 2 gallons ready for when you get home!!
So tomorrow it is back in the gym and back at it and monday it is the start of my mini wedding prep. I will keep you posted!
Have a great rest of your Saturday!
