Oh Gina – so nice to hear your voice and thank you for reminding me of how happy I am living this lifestyle. This is why I asked for your help to begin with and this is why I am so happy now. It did take me time to get used to i.e what to eat; how much; workouts; etc., but I feel better than I ever have before and I feel better than I did when I competed!
I hear so often from girls who compete and then suffer the post competition blues – I experienced this and I kept thinking that the show was the way for me to get back in shape. It took me the past year, with your help, to really figure out what works for me and i am so happy!
These past couple of weeks I have been extra careful about what i am eating and my body has responded tremendously – which is exciting because it tells me a) that I am in good condition and that i can just make small changes and b) that if I ate this way on a regular basis, then the sky’s the limit!
I think often about why I would go crazy after depleting myself for shows and the #1 answer I can come up with is that the mere thought of not being able to have something made me want to binge – I know its crazy but hey its the truth. These feelings made me so unhappy.
Now I let myself have things when I want them (if i even want them) and then i pick right back up! The coolest thing is that people ask me if I am getting ready for a show and I can so NO just living the healthy lifestyle! hey now that’s the best of both worlds!

Thanks Gina for yet another benefit to your already so fantastic member site! The only weird thing is that I can’t access that phone number from my cell phone, only a land line. Do you know why? I tried it a few times last night but it just doesn’t go anywhere and then says your number cannot be completed as dialed. I have no land line at home so I had to wait till I was at work. Just wondering. Thanks again! I love to be in your head for a few minutes! π
Yes, No O for me this year. It is hard, after 4x stepping on the Olympia stage but…Success is knowing when to slow down, when to put what first and when to take yourself out of the picture and focus on others! I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to share and help others reach their fitness lifestyle goals!

Jenn– Thank you for your awesome post! So glad to be able to speak to you all and get a little closer than the screen! I am so happy for you and everyone’s success is simply amazing. Seeing all of the things you are accomplishing and the state of mind you are in, makes me SO happy!!
“I feel better than I ever have before and I feel better than I did when I competed!” That is what it is all about and so glad that by taking the time to find that balance, as hard as it was and as rocky as it may have been, you went with the ups and downs, stayed persistent and in turn, a year later, look at your body, look at you! Mentally and physically strong! This is what in Shape is all about. Being in shape and my idea of fitness is not just having rock hard abs but being in shape from the inside out. Having a strong body, soul, heart, mind and spirit. The competition blues, usually, are exactly what keeps women from stepping on stage time and time again, show after show!! One week after the show.. oh no, weeks after the show, big oh no, 3 and 4 weeks post competitions, oh my gosh, I have taken things too far I don’t know what to do… this is out of control, I have lost focus, I have no goal… what do I do??? I know I need rest, everyone is telling me that, I need to make improvements but I am 10-15 lbs over my comfortable weight!!! ahhhhhh……. I need to do another show!!! that is the “ONLY” way to get back down!

little by little you have to roll with that period, when you are new and happen to fall into it. Take it one day at a time to re group, get your support system and tackle the situation one step at a time without going to the extremes of another prep. You can see how this is the Yo Yo effect and will continue and continue show after show if you do not take control of it and get the help to allow you to not only mentally deal with where you are at but learn how to rein things back in and little by little get back down to your comfortable weight, in a realistic manner, for LIFE! Once you are able to do this and take on this challenge, you know that you don’t “NEED” a show and that shows are there as a fun goal but not as a means of a way out of your out of control habits or inability to be fit for life…
As you see, this is such a huge topic and I could go on and on. I want to help!! Jenn, thank you for sharing because you are an example of one who understands, has been there, but also who has been strong and taken on the challenge of lifestyle fitness and being in shape!! You said it, you are feeling better and looking better than ever and guess what, without a show on the calendar!
You have found what works for YOU. You know what you can get away with, the fun you can have, how you can enjoy life, keep things reasonable and if you want to tighten things up, you know just what to do. Your body is already in shape and you mentally are strong so you just do a few things here and there and boom…. body responds!
You said it and this is so powerful. This is awesome!! You said it! You allow yourself to have things within reason, when you have the urge… which doesn’t come too often, when you can have them.. but when you do, you do and you just pick things right back up!
Isn’t that awesome when people ask you when you are doing a show… no just living life! I have people that ask my clients the same thing, when we are training and that is exactly the response, no just prepping for life!! xo π

Loved hearing your thought as ALWAYS..So nice to just listen, u know really listen. That is the key with everything, weather it’s you or listening to our own bodies!
I have finally fully embraced my clean way of eating and training and I feel 100% better then I did 6 months ago when we started the video’s…
I have more energy, running has even become easier..(u know once things start to tighten up they don’t bounce and wiggle so much)LOL
But last night was a perfect example of treating my self and enjoying a re-fuel meal..We went out to La Puerta and I had 1 1/2 small tacos with chips and quac. and for the 1st time in forever I didn’t beat myself up about it! I knew I had been clean ALL week and hit every training day and cardio.. So it finally clicked!! yipeeeeeee Woke up with insane energy from all the carbs and killed it in this morning;’s workout!
And on a side note, I know how frustrating it can be when someone asks for your help/opinion or advice…and they go ahead and do whatever anyways…not so smart. But to each their own, the few of us that can find that balance will be the one’s looking like this when were in our 50’s and 60’s π
On that note it sure is a beautiful day! And Im off to work π HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!! LOVE YA G~
Jess, HIIIIII! Glad you listened and were able to listen with your cell, great, it works!! (not sure what is going on with your phone there Erin…???!!! You are another example of plugging along day in and day out until you find what works for you! SO proud of you! Amazing how with out the wiggle and giggle we can move! lol
Last night is a perfect example of having some fun, refueling your body and mind, not going crazy with your portions or choices, not beating yourself up and then woke up re energized ready to go!! Now I know your workout this morning was awesome! Look at that, this is my point… if you feel run down and you go to the gym day in and day out, going through the motions, you are burning calories but not as many as if you refuel your body and mind and then hit it HARD with the training and cardio. You burn so many more calories, have the energy, feel amazing and it is FUN because you are not struggling! So glad you experienced this Jess!! Insane what carbs do, huh… go figure! π
It is less about feeling frustrated that the girl didn’t listen and more that I know what is going on inside and I want to help!! Frustrated that I offered tools that I know would be so beneficial and are right there yet not being taken advantage of. I just get where she is coming from and want to help!!!! you know what I mean!! I sense someone who is lost, confused, trapped, wanting balance, wanting to live, have fun and be in shape but doesn’t know how to do it. I also get frustrated that there are people telling her it is okay to keep going!!!
ALL IN TIME, EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN TIME IN REALIZATIONS AND INNER FINDINGS AND PEACE…

I don’t know what’s up with my phone? It’s so weird. I’ve called the number about 7 times and only 2 times has the call gone through. So bizarre. I thought it might be my service provider but I had a friend call the number who also has T-Mobile and it was fine. I tried it again and it worked. And now I just tried it again and it didn’t go through till the 3rd call. My phone must have issues! π
Oh, and Gina, I did say I love being in your mind for a “few” minutes! π I think anymore than a few minutes in your mind might be quite overwhelming, my little perpetual coffeemaker!

Well – so much for your low key day! Thanks for your response. I remember you telling me multiple times – “whatever you do don’t step on stage for awhile, if ever” – apparantly you could sense my frustrations too and I am glad I listened! you are too wise.
π Thanks Jenn. I am always honest and I tell so many people that same thing. I would never guide someone to the stage if they were not mentally and physically in the right place for it. If I did, I would be setting them up for disaster and we don’t want that!! I care too much about the aftermath and long term effects so I have to be honest!! I know people don’t quite understand why I may suggest that but in the end, I know they will!! So glad you understand! xo
