Healthy eating habits were instilled early on in Michael and Gina’s lives. However, as adults, they took their habits two different places—Gina tending toward strict, precise diets, and Michael tending toward hearty, crowd-pleasing meals. But after years in the kitchen together their cooking and eating crossed paths and Fit:50 was born.
Gina Aliotti-Silva is currently a top-ranked International Federation of Body Building Figure Professional, having earned the title in many top international shows, including The Arnold (Schwarzenegger) Classic. With a Bachelors Degree in Foods and Nutrition from San Diego State University, she helps hundreds of clients via her online nutritional counseling service. As a Figure Professional, her contest preparations have always required a very stringent eating plan, limiting her to little more than lean protein and vegetables. But being committed to her profession, she thought that was the way it had to be.
Michael Silva is a Firefighter/Paramedic and an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. As a firefighter, working at the station sometimes requires him to cook for up to 24 firefighters, all demanding hearty, healthy meals (and offering their honest criticism one way or another).
When Michael and Gina’s two styles of eating and creating food finally came together, something inspired, healthy, and delicious took place!
They understand that healthy eating is a habit that’s formed like any other. The goal is consistency, not perfection, and establishing a way of life that is balanced and manageable. Fit:50 is a compilation of recipes—10 break-fasts, 10 lunches, 10 dinners, 10 snacks, and 10 drinks—they use in their home and present to you as a new way of eating. Michael and Gina only hope you have as much fun creating them in the kitchen as they do!
