These are my favorite!!! I do them a little differently though and was wondering what the difference is. I do them slower and go all the way up until my body is mostly in a straight line. Have you done them like that and do you think they work your abs differently? Or do you think they are similar and I can just do the lower, quicker ones like you do?
On a different note, when you did the circuit with Traci and you had her do the “leg pressdown” where she holds your ankle, is the point to resist as the legs are closer to the ground or resist at the beginning of the push. Or are there benefits to both? THANKS! š
Oh yes, these are great! I do them like you do as well. This is just a different variation of the same exercise! š Stimulating your abs in different ways is the way to go. Lifting your legs all the way up and not in such a fast pace motion will target the lower abs more where the “toe ups” I demo’ed hit both rectus abdominal and lower… I do them both ways and both are great! I often do them your way by lying on a bench with the bar over head, holding onto the bar for stabilization and bringing my legs down and all the way up so they are perpendicular to the ground. I would do the toe ups, quickly, as demo’ed and then do them slower, as you do. Vary them and you will feel the burn!
On to the other note– Yes the leg press downs done in the circuit with Traci, they are intended to resist the momentum going down but also working your abs as you bring your legs back up. Keeping your core engaged the entire way down is key. Benefits to both, keeping control and your core tight the entire time!
Great variations for abs!! š
Thanks G!!! I’ll have to mix it up and do both in one! That sounds good and burny! Yes, I just made up that word! š
