did you know that adding vinegar to a meal is known to reduce its glycemic impact, or the speed at which the carbohydrates are converted into blood glucose!!???
Adding about two teaspoons of vinegar to a meal containing complex carbohydrates can reduce their glycemic impact by about 20%. Interestingly, it is said that vinegar does not seem to slow the metabolism of simple sugars such as those in fruit, juice, or sweetened foods and beverages but does affect complex carbohydrates absorption!
Did you know that red bell peppers are actually green bell peppers just left on the tree longer!? The color can be green, red, yellow, orange and more rarely, white and purple, depending on when they are harvested. Green peppers are less sweet and slightly more bitter than red, yellow or orange peppers. The taste of ripe peppers can also vary with growing conditions and post-harvest storage treatment; the sweetest are fruit allowed to ripen fully on the plant. Hence why the red peppers are so much sweeter. Not to mention they are always more expensive too…. did you wonder why that was..?
