No matter where you are in your fitness journey, there will be obstacles and challenges! A common factor is the lack of time, feeling overwhelmed, lack of motivation, discouraged and confused but as long as you are taking steps, even just baby steps, you are moving in the right direction! It is when you let obstacles defeat you that you stop progressing.
Everyday is a day in the right direction if you are taking actions and moving forward, one baby step at a time. Each day, have that clear vision of what your goal is and take an inch of a step towards it.
The power of these 3 tips can help keep you stepping!
– Break your goals down into baby goals. Don’t allow your mind to go past that baby goal until you reach it. If it is to get in an extra 5 minutes of cardio today, don’t think about anything more than reaching that goal. When you do, it is time to come up with your next baby goal. Take time to be happy about reaching that goal, congratulate yourself on what you have accomplished, and then set your next small, immediate goal.
-Try adding new healthy habit each week. Just as Sunday is your “prep” day, prepare your goal of the week. Every Sunday, come up with a new, small habit you are going to adopt. If every week you add one new goal, imagine where you will be 52 weeks from now, 52 goals deep! Some habits you could add include: drinking more water, introducing strength training, preparing your meal a day in advance or starting to use your Personal Log. It is you weekly goals that will all add up, one baby step at a time.
-Add in a new habit, you must make room for it by eliminating a bad habit. Each week, think about one habit you can do away with? Maybe it is your addiction to diet sodas, late night sugar, not working out, etc. Whatever it may be, take away something that isn’t serving you.
