Q:
Hey Gina, could you talk about getting the right color for the stage and competition day? How do you know what’s just right?
A:
Yes, of course I can mention my tips on color!!! Color is SO important and you need to nail it. My suggestion is to pay the extra money to get yourself tanned by professionals. I always use either Jan Tana products and professionals or I have a friend who does it professionally at limited shows. She uses Jan Tana and does an amazing job!! I know the tanning is expensive and all adds up but it is so important to have flawless! It can make or break you, just like a suit! My suggestion, pay the extra $$ and do it right. At the same time, if you are doing it yourself, which I have done in the past, in my early years, this is what I suggest: (assuming show is on Saturday)
TANNING
Wednesday: FULL shower (shave, exfoliate, etc)
Apply ONE coat
THURSDAY:
Last Shower-Rinse Only (no soap)
TWO coats, allowing each to dry very well between coats
FRIDAY:
THREE COATS
Number of coats may depend on skin tone and how thick the tan is applied.
You must be dark enough!!!! Too dark is not good but the chances are rare. If you think you are dark enough, my suggestion, do one more coat.
Great question!!
