How specific are you?

You have your road map, so you think? Yes, you must have a map of where you are going so know what your next “highway” will be or where you will be “turning next” but what if your roadmap is a map of the East Coast? If you are starting on on the west coast, you know you are heading East but do you know where? That is the general vicinity but way to general to keep you focused or to ensure you end up where desired Just like this example, you must be specific with not only your goals but how you are going to get there? Being general will only get you so far! I am proud of you for having goals and aspiring to get better and make improvements but now my question to you is how are you going to get there and what does your roadmap look like? If your goals are too vague or unstructured, you’ll find that attaining them is difficult. Wanting to lose 30 pounds is a wonderful goal, but you need a plan to get you on the right track. How are you going to do that? What steps are you going to take right now to chop away at those unwanted pounds? It is much easier to come up with your specific roadmap but today I would like to to give it some thought. Think about your goals and form a SPECIFIC plan to achieve them. Write them down, chart your progress in your Personal Log, refer to them as often as you need to stay on track, and most importantly, hold yourself accountable. One you have your roadmap, let it guide you to your destination!

While watching Dr. Oz yesterday, I caught a few words from Deepak Chopra, “Sit down for a few minutes and ask yourself ‘Who am I, Where am I going & What do I want?” Those are some of the hardest questions you will ever be faced with! Give it a try and see if you can start to formulate your map!

Big challenges big actions?

Good Morning everyone! Hope you had a healthy and happy holiday weekend! Back in action and rounding up the month with a productive day ahead! When you take on great challenges, do you think those challenges require big actions? The truth is that in order to achieve goals and take on great challenges, it requires not necessarily big actions but actions period. Tackling big challenges require actually smaller actions but smaller actions that are practiced day in and day out! One large action is much smaller than several mini actions that are practiced on a regular basis. As people think about what challenge (s) they want to face, it is common for people to get overwhelmed by the thoughts of the big actions that need to take place. If someone is looking to start eating healthier, they may think oh my gosh I need to never eat chocolate again, there goes my latte, etc. No, that is not necessarily true. Rather than taking those larger actions, take small actions daily. Start by cutting out the mayo from your tuna salad. That simple small action, practiced day in and day out, will actually do more for you than big actions that may be setting you up for failure. Start small, start with smaller actions but just start.

You may want to have it all and have it all now so are willing or think you are willing to go big or go home but in reality, start small. Sacrificing everything can cause frustration and burn out. Find some small action that you can start today and do daily. Rather than trying to do everything at once, start by doing one thing at a time but doing that one thing consistently. Rather than thinking about ALL the big actions you have to take to reach your goals, focus your mind on the smaller actions that you are willing to do every day! Small actions practiced day in and day out lead to reaching big challenges! May 31st, go after it, focused and ready to take on a new month! What will June bring…?

Good Morning Teamers! Hope everyone is having a healthy and safe holiday weekend! This week, as we move onto a new month… what is it that you want? When you understand what you really want, your life will have purpose. June is going to be dedicated to discovering what it is you truly want and taking the actions to move you closer to your goals. Before you can tackle something, you must create that vision but before you can create that vision, you must know what it is that gets you excited and what you really want?
