OMG! Where to begin?
What an unbelievably f’in amazing experience!!! Sorry, to throw out the f’in, but it’s needed. I had a fantastic weekend. Gina and Jess made me feel like I was the most beautiful bride at the most unbelievable wedding. Thank you two for making the experience sooooo special. I was SOOOOO proud to represent Team G-Fit!
It’s really hard to sum up all the emotions and experiences from the day. Backstage was TONS of fun! I was blown away at how nice and friendly all the competitors were. It was a trip to look around and see everyone in orange, oily, done up, looking fit. The actual being on stage is a blur. I have never been in theater, so it was my first time ever really being on a stage. I was very uncomfortable on stage which is something I know I really need to work on. The hardest part of the entire day was being so thirsty.
I thought I would be ready to jump into a huge piece of cake or pizza after the show, but all I craved was a juicy nectarine and HUGE glass of ice water. Funny huh
I was pretty disappointed with my placing (it’s the athlete in me) and was bummed Saturday night. James, my great fiancé, pulled out my starting pictures which really helped me see how far I have come. As I was focusing on the progression on my physique, he pointed out the change in my face. I started off with a look of sadness, low self confidence, and almost a look of despair/hopelessness. The current pics show a happy, vibrant, full of life look in my face. THAT IS WHAT MATTERS! Not a score card.
Yesterday I had a celebration party at Babycakes, a cupcake place here in San Diego. It was unanimous notion among my friends that 2nd place was the best thing that could have happened for me- it will fuel the fire to keep improving, keep working hard, and stay focused. It was even joked that I would carry the 2nd place trophy everywhere I go to push me to do 1 extra rep, 1 extra minute on the treadmill… I wrote to Gina that it will probably be in my kitchen next to the peanut butter- a constant reminder to stay on point with the diet and measure out every tbls of pb
So here I am 2 days post contest feeling well, hung over on sugar. Besides that, I am feeling focused, motivated, HAPPY, loved and blessed (the support and encouragement from family/friends/co-workers has been almost overwhelming). As warned, of course I want to do another show! Gina and I exchanged some emails and looks like the October show here in SD will be my next. I am really excited about doing it with [people I know- Jessica!
After I get some feedback from the judges, Gina and I will be formulating a plan on what to work on this go-around. I am already know that I want to work on stage presence and bringing in a tighter package (omg, I sound like a figure girl).
I learned a TON about myself through this prep and know this is only the beginning of the long term journey.

Awesome job Nikee! 2nd place in first show, pretty good if you ask me!:) Here's to the rest of the journey ....!!

Congratulations Nikee!
Wow! You looked absolutely stunning. Didn't they tell you that 2nd is the new 1st? ;)I've placed 2nd at all my shows so far, and let me tell you, it drives me to want it even more each time... just like you described. Beside, you have everything to be proud of. What a great first experience it was! I can only imagine what the future has in store for you now! Congratulations again my friend! xxx

Wow!!! You truely looked amazing and beautiful! I think 2nd is fantastic!! Your journey is so inspiring it has me considering doing it... Hmmm....
I LOVE jame's observation, that is an excellent point about how you have grown, hardened, and blossomed on the inside. I think there is no bigger prize than changing your low esteem to realizing the amazing person you are inside and out and being confident enough to put it all out there with your loved ones, a forum and even on a stage. You really did win!!Posted 2 years ago # -
Nikee, we are SO PROUD OF YOU!! LOOK AT YOU, HOW BEAUTIFUL YOU ARE AND HOW MUCH YOU SHINNED! From the moment I saw Nikee on Friday, she was glowing and on cloud 10, not 9 but 10!! I am with Claudine, 2nd is the new 1st! 1st is so overrated! ;) Look I have been the bridesmaid 3 years in a row and am rocking that 2nd until the day I die!! :)
You won, each day you were digging deep! I am so proud of how far you came mentally and physically! Nikee, I love how James pulled out those photos because it is so easy to forget where you started because all you see is the now. In this situation, it is important to look back in the past and remember where and how you started and how far you have come! You realized so much about you, your body, what you want, who you are, what you represent and so much more! I am excited to keep this party started and bring you to the SD, continuing to learn the entire way! You rocked it Nikee. Look at how beautiful you are!!! AMAZING!! XOXO
GO TEAM G-FIT!!!

Nikee, finally I have a chance to write here! I just want to say that I'm soooo proud of you and what you've accomplished, what you've learned about yourself, and how you've grown!!! It's been so fun to watch. I love that James pointed out the changes inside and how they show on the outside through your face. Yes, your face says it all. When I met you your energy and enthusiasm for life just came shining through that beautiful face of yours!! It has been such a pleasure getting to know you and following your journey! I'm so glad you're continuing on and doing the San Diego show. I knew you would and I know you're going to continue to evolve into an even more amazing Nikee! You are AMAZING!!
You are one dedicated and driven girl and anybody would be lucky to have you touching their world. I count myself among the very lucky since we were so close in our timing for our first figure competitions.
Thank you for your constant support and for the text this morning!! YOU ROCK!! I was literally chopping some salad and thinking that I wanted to text you for some support and that was when your text popped up on my phone! So thanks again!! And also it was so great to meet James! What a great person he is - you 2 can only enhance each other's lives!! Great couple!
CONGRATS again on a job very well done!!!! Can't wait to be on the sidelines for your next competition in San Diego!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!

WEEK POST CONTEST
The love and support has been quite overwhelming this week. I received tons of positive comments on facebook, calls from friends, and WAY WAY WAY to many congratulation “gifts” via mail. Many of my loved ones knew about the strict diet and figured I would love/deserve to indulge myself in desserts. Tuesday seemed to be the day everything arrived. My kitchen resembled a small bakery- cookies, pies, brownies, cupcakes, numerous chocolate creations, different jars of Peanut Butter & Co Peanut Butter, and jugs of great microbrew beer (I was a huge beer snob. The first few gifts were nice but soon was dreading answering the door.
Tuesday I was OK with only a few bites of this and that. No biggie. On Wednesday, James (the fiancé) made Senior Rep, which is a HUGE accomplishment (made senior in less than 3 months). We celebrated at Seersucker, a new restaurant owned by Brian M (Top Chef). I had the most amazing swordfish and lemon dish. I also had a few glasses of champagne. That would have been fine BUT once I got home, it was on like donkey Kong- total pig out. One bite lead to another and another and another…I totally over-baked goods!
Yes, I indulged a bit too much. OK, WAY too much. Just being honest and being held accountable.
Yesterday morning, I woke up feeling like a huge puffer fish. Fat, fat the water rat!! It was physically uncomfortable. Looking at the ½ eaten baked goods actually had zero appeal to me. I ended up throwing everything left out- even an un-open jar of peanut butter. I was actually craving fish and veggies!! I ate super clean all day and woke up today feeling MUCH better. I’m still a bit bloated but not as bad.
Although the pig out session set me back a bit, I do think it will help me progress moving forward. Like Gina’s post last night (side note: so many of Gina’s daily post totally relate to what I am going through), I understand eating _____ made me feel _____. I don’t like how I feel when I eat the dessert. I also know my willpower is greatly compromised when I drink. I know I don’t want to feel sluggish, bloated, and blah.
Although I am heading into prepping for my next contest, this journey is more about lifestyle and not the stage. This is a learning process for me. I am more aware now how food directly effects my mood, the physical reaction I have to foods.
10 week count down starts tomorrow. I am headed to Denver for a week of work and ya’ll know I’ll be packing ½ suitcase full of turkey patties, chicken, pro pancakes…I am feeling more motivated as ever for the next 10 weeks! I’ll be starting a new forum thread for this show.
Have a great weekend ladies!

Nikee, I'm new to posting, but have been "lurking" on this site for quite awhile and have been following your journey. I have to say that what you have accomplished is so inspiring and continues to be so. Your most inspiring post as far as I'm concerned is this one. I have struggled with a "perfectionist" mindset that constantly has taken me out of the game because I feel like I failed, if I slip up. Your ability to get right back on track is motivating to me! Who knew, from someone else's "slips", come another persons inspiration!!!!
Posted 2 years ago # -
Nikee, tell James CONGRATS!! HUGE CONGRATS!!!! That's so awesome! I was so happy to read that. And I'm glad you went out and celebrated but sorry for the puffer fish feeling. But hey, live and learn, right? Now you know. And I know you...I'm sure you're right back on it. Can't wait for your new journal for your new journey!! Have a good time in Denver. Don't work too crazy hard!
