Dos Dias Mas, Mamacita! I am SOOO excited for you! These last few days are the most fun-hair and nails done, tan, makeup... Not the waxing through :)

Erin,
It was wonderful to meet you this weekend! You shined!!!! Congratulations on your first show. You are such a beautiful person inside and out. Looking forward to hanging out with you in San Diego to watch the rest of the girls GO GET IT!
Kim xo
Erin I thought you looked amazing and it's tough because it's the judges call on that day that time it's soooo subjective.. believe me I know.. but with that said you have the most and right attitude you did it you looked great!!! Keep up the amazing work I'm proud of you girl...
Erin,
I just read your blog on your site. What a great attitude. How inspiring. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the day after. You are absolutely right. You brought the right package and it's not about 1st, 2nd, 3rd...it's about you and your experience. It's about learning what works for you and what doesn't. It's the rush of doing something you've never done before. It's about putting yourself out there even when it's scary. It's about trying to do something that doesn't seem possible. And, it's living life to the fullest!
Great blog Erin and congratulations again! You looked absolutely amazing.
PS...where is the jam recipe? Looks yummy!!
Kim
You are so right kim everyone always asks you what did you place? It's not that easy it's not a competition of personal abilities like triathlons or racing or biking etc... it's the judges on that day and what they are looking for on that day... just getting there is the prize and we are all winners and soooo glad to here we all feel the same.. Keep strong ladies we are number 1 for just getting there!!!
E to the LEE my girl!! I am super duper proud of you! Wow you looked SO beautiful yesterday!! You should be SO proud of yourself! You worked extremely hard and it definitely payed off, you looked amazing!!! You did bring your BEST package to that stage and you are a WINNER no matter what!!!!! Your journey is awesome and it motivates me after seeing you yesterday :) I am so happy to have had the opportunity to be there with you!! Your breakfast looked yummy.. yay for fruit!!! haha Enjoy girly and WAY TO GO!!
Hi Kim!!! It was so great to meet you!!! And again thank you so much for helping me backstage. You brought a huge sense of calm to the chaos that's happening backstage. You have a great energy and rocking body!! You looked fantastic on stage and I'm so happy that you had a great time. Can't wait to see what Atlanta brings for you! I know you're going to rock that stage as well. And then it will be great to go to San Diego with you to watch the G-Fit Team!! How fun!! Thanks for checking out my blog. I love that thing. I'm going to start a new one for my lifestyle journey. It's been an amazing tool for self discovery!! AMAZING!
Leslie, thanks so much! Yes, it's a subjective sport and therefore you can never really know what the judges are going to pick from one day to the next or one panel to the next. We all bring what we can and we just have to respect the placings regardless of where you land. And I definitely agree that "we are number 1 for just getting there"! Absolutely!!!
T DAWG!! What can I say? You are so sweet and thank you so much for your kind words!! I definitely am very proud of myself. I worked my little tushie off and it paid off! Not with a trophy but with the most incredible feeling of SELF FULFILLMENT EVER!!!! And that isn't something you get a trophy for! I have a little trophy for that in my heart! And there it shall stay for any time when I might be struggling to keep my head up! I know what I've done so now I know what I'm capable of and THAT is so much better than any trophy!! My breakfast was way yummy and yes, FRUIT ROCKS!! LOL!!!!! Thanks again for helping me with my hair and just the backstage scene in general. You, Kim and Gina were my little angels for the day!
THANK YOU again to all of you girls that have been there for me in so many ways. I can't thank you enough! It's been amazing! This site is absolutely the best place ever!!! LOVE it here. I think I'll take off my shoes and make myself comfortable 'cause I'm sticking around for a while. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!
Erin- I don’t even know where to begin. First of all, you looked absolutely beautiful and I am so proud of you. You have come so far and the stage was a place for you to display your hard work but honestly I didn’t even need to see your photos to know that you are a success. You live and breathe success everyday – I can feel it in your posts and all of your positivity. You have helped so many women on this site and your journey only continues from this point forward. I hope you relax and enjoy your transition back to living the healthy comp-free lifestyle – have fun doing your cardio outside and experimenting with all of your recipes, etc.
Congratulations!
Jenn G!! Hello! Thank you very, very much!!! You are so nice and such a positive force yourself! I look forward to my comp-free lifestyle. So far so good! You have definitely been the inspiration for that! I'm so glad I asked you to post your typical week because it really helped me prepare mentally for the post-comp life! THANKS again!!!
Hey Erin! nice work on the comp you looked awesome!! So you are finding the post-comp transition smooth sailing??
Oh and thanks so much for posting your pictures, WOW that is an amazing transformation! Such an inspiration!!
Thanks Helen!! Yes, so far so good on the post-comp transition. I think only people who have gone through the contest prep could really grasp what it's like after! I will say that my body must be exhausted because I'm sleeping a ridiculous amount! So glad I don't have to work this week! That was very good thinking on my part to take the week off to regroup. Glad you're back, Helen, and thanks again!
Hey Erin,, my final week is soon approaching wondering what your final week looked like? I know about the water I read Gina's blog on it and the cutting all salt as of Wednesday where possible but what did you eat? Any tips would be great.. you looked amazing!!
Thanks sooo much and any other girls that would like to give tips i am open.. what did you eat day of show too.. to snack on? rice cakes and pb? craisins? just curious...
Hope everyone has a great evening it's late here in WI time to get to bed up at gym by 5:00AM...
see ya!!!
Hey Leslie!! Wow...final week huh? Great!! Congrats! This is what I ate but I know that everyone is quite different as witnessed by Kim and Jewels that were both in the same comp with me. We all went into that comp eating different things even the day of so it really is individualized.
7 meals right up to the comp. I was eating about 100 g carbs divided through all my meals except Meal 6 in the way of brown rice, rice cakes, and oatmeal. And about 200 g protein, mostly tilapia but some shrimp and ground turkey Mon, Tue and Wed. And only 1 tablespoon oil a day. Thursday and Friday were very similar but Thursday I could still eat all the veggies I wanted and Friday was ONLY asparagus. I cut out salt starting Thursday. Also Thursday I had steak at one meal and Friday salmon. I ate about 180g protein, 70g carbs, 40g fat. Actually I ended up eating more on Friday because my weight had dropped so add to that another 4 rice cakes. I had more water than most I think. I got a gallon on Thursday and 3/4 gallon on Friday. On comp day it was basically tilapia and rice cakes and almonds but no asparagus and only water to sip. Again she added more food because I was deflating! LOL! In between the prejudging and finals I got to have steak and yam. That was a great treat. I ate less that day actually because I really only ate at 6, 7:30 and 9:30/10. Then at 2 or so and 4:30. I oddly wasn't all that hungry and not really thirsty. I drank about 10 oz. throughout the entire day.
If you have any other questions, let me know!! I would be happy to answer them.
Erin thanks for the info... i am finishing up my week before my final week (make sense lol) I started the carb cycling and it's hard to get in so many carbs and i feel bad when i eat that much fat! I am eating almonds, nature valley pb which is less fat and calories than regular natural pb and pb2; always taking the oils in addition... i'm so afraid i will get fat by eating so much fat.. one girl i know says cut out pb starting like two weeks ago!!! i didn't. hee he... i'm still 9.7% bodyfat my weight is holding the same i've also heard to cut out nuts too... i do well with fat and actually i feel my best on my low carb high fat days!!
my last week that someone gave me has alot of flank steak in it like 2-3 times a day the last like 3 days nervous aboiut that.. and it had egg whits which i will cut and replace with oatmeal due to sodium issue; i read gina articles.. wed cutting sodium .. no more veggies starting thursday; sweet potatoes/yams seem to bloat me a bit going to stick with oats and rice cakes.. do you put pb on rice cakes or plain?
Sorry for all the questons but you guys are awesome and i finally feel like i have somewhere i can go with legitimate answers and not crazy diets.. lol
thanks erin have an awesome day!!
Hi again Leslie! I can only speak from my own experience. I ate almonds right up to and including the day of the show. I also ate almond butter up to competition day, and yes, on rice cakes (unsalted of course). I'm not sure why you're eating the less fat and calorie PB. The point of eating PB is for the good fats so I would suggest eating the real stuff.
As for the flank steak, I'm not sure about that. It seems extreme. I've heard of girls doing that but it seems like it's only one steak a day, not 2-3 times a day. How do you do with steak? What have you eaten for your past competitions? Also instead of replacing the egg whites with oatmeal, I would definitely suggest white fish instead since oatmeal is high in carbs and egg whites and fish are high in protein.
Most of my rice cakes were eaten plain and I was eating A LOT of rice cakes. Really not fun for me, to be honest. Are you coaching yourself? Or who is writing up your plans for you? Do they know your body and how it responds to different foods? Gina knew what different foods would do to me and gave me those foods accordingly. Luckily I don't have a bloating problem!
Hope those answers help. Final week for you!!! AWESOME!!! Enjoy and take care!!
Erin you rock!! Thank you for your advise and tips. yes i will stick with the orange roughy vs egg whites... i'm not sure about the flank steak either it's about 3 times a day only 1 or 2 oz.. i haven't been eating it now so i'm not going to change it up the last day!!! i'll trial it next time..
My first show last october i was given diets given to a friend who was 5'2 120 lbs okay i'm 6'0 and off season a good healthy 160lb.. so i came in lean enough but very depleted per judges.. then 2nd show this past april.. tried again advice and diets from people from their coaches.. and then found someone last 3 weeks to coach me from a different state... she had me eating a full blown cheeseburger the day before and apple pie filling, gummie worms the night before and day of!!! also told me to stop cardio 2 weeks out.. so i of course wasn't lean enough and once again flat couldn't get a pump to save my life.. lol... now this time i was using her from the beginning adn her plan until i found out i was cookie cuttered with another girl (and more i'm sure) who was once again 5'3 120 lbs... same workouts same diets etc.. exactly we hooked up on facebook and i found that out.. so i've been playing and learning on my own and then i found you guys... so you are helping me tremendously just by reading your blogs and past articles etc... awesome!!! I would love to have Gina actually take me to a show but I'm afraid she is way to expensive for me.. belive me I know she is worth every penny but i can't find pricing anywhere.... so i guess i am doing it alone really and trying to build muscle (being tall it's hard) and learn how food affects me.. it's realy alot of fun actually..
So i will let you know how it goes i'm going to try to stick with this lean out plan i got from my pro figure friend who adela was her trainer with just a few tweaks and will give it a go! lol...
I will eat real pb!!! wow!! yummy... i won't go crazy but mix it in .. i realy like natural valley pb though with the flax seeds... thanks sooooo much girl... you really are helping me and confirming a few things for me as well.. i truly appreciate it.. i can never leave this site.. haa haaa... so many awesome amazing women who want to empower each other to reach their potential it's rare and i am truly blessed...
Have a great night sorry so long.. thank you thank you thank you... Gina would be proud Erin!!!!
Thanks Leslie! I hope Gina would be proud!
Your last week! It's going to be so fun. I know you say you can't afford Gina but my advice to you there is that you should definitely contact her to see how much it would be and definitely, definitely do an entire prep with her. She's ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I attribute a lot of my success with my prep, pre-prep and post-show to her! I would definitely find out her fee and then save up for it because it would be sooooo worth it for you and you could see what's the best package you could bring to the stage!! And I'm positive she can pack some muscle on you! I can only imagine. Luckily I've always had muscle but now I have even BETTER muscle!
Good luck in your final week Leslie! At least Gina will be back for the final push and extra motivation!!! Woot woot! Here you go!!!
Hi Erin! Wow imagine my surprise when I came up the stairs at Worlds and saw non other than the forum expert rockin the treadmill at atleast 20% incline?? What were you at?? You look amazing! Same as when I saw you at TOC. That is super inspiring to see that you are living the lifestyle and haven't lost a thing! And to better answer your question about me and weights (it's hard to talk much during workouts, atleast for me, I either literally can't talk because I'm winded or I'm in task mode focused on getting in and getting out) but anyhow, yes weights are a thousand times better!! I atribute my new found appreciation for the weight room to Jessie! She's awesome and has taught me soooo much! I can find that intensity you all speak of and have really learned to focus and connect with the body part I am trying to work.
So let's start planning something now when I bunch of us will be around cheering on the ladies at Border State competition! Any ideas??? Have a safe drive back to LA and I hope we run into eachother again soon! Good night!
HI LUCY!!! It was such a nice surprise to see both you and Nikee at Worlds. Thanks so much for the praise. I was actually at 30%! Hey, I had to make the most of that machine since we don't have that at my gym! Traci and I had such a great shoulder workout and then the cardio on that incline treadmill was sooo great and nice for a change! It was a great day all the way around.
I'm so glad you 're feeling better about the weights and really starting to enjoy them. That makes all the difference I think. It's so hard to go from cardio queen to weight room but you are doing it and doing it really well! You look fantastic and I can already see a difference in just the 2 weeks since I last saw you.
I made it home safe and sound last night, rolling in at about midnight. Great day! Great workout! Great food! And great FRIENDS!! So great to be able to see you, Nikee and Traci all in one trip! So fun!!
I will definitely be in touch with you about Border States. It's going to be a great day and fun competition. G-FIT is SOOOO going to represent! Can't wait!!
