Do you have a desire to do something different than what you are doing? If so, are you taking appropriate steps towards to make the change? Often people dream and talk. Talk a lot about what it is they want, how they want to change, what it is they want to do, but they never do the one thing that will allow them to reach those ambitions–Act. The reality of life is that we need to change something in order to get something. For example, If you want to change your body and health, you cannot lose weight and build a healthier body by doing what you are doing and eating as you are eating. There needs to be a change. Taking action and making those changes takes courage and honesty with yourself. As long as you are doing what you like and follow your heart, you are more apt to make the change and go for it! Think about what it is you really want, dedicate yourself to taking the steps, set up baby steps and a plan of attack and go for it! If you have the desire, that is the initial spark that you need to get the flame going!

Typically leaders and motivators are those that possess a positive outlook and see the positive in any given situation. People tend to gravitate towards that type of attitude because it is inspiring and pleasant to be around. Take a look at your own attitude. Is it one that others would want to be around? Attitudes are contagious and determine how we act so it is important to be around the type of people that you want to emulate. Today, be sure to fill your environment with happiness, enthusiasm, and optimism because it will make all the difference in how your day unfolds!

Being successful takes hard work, time, overcoming obstacles and dedication to achieve your goals— you can say that again!! It doesn’t happen over night–darn it!! Unfortunately it doesn’t just fall out of the sky and land on your lap–Darn it! You have to invest time and tears into your dreams. It is important to have a plan to get from point A to B but once you have your plan, you are set and ready to go! Planning, as we all know is key but along with planning and having a plan comes the importance of being flexible with that plan! Change tends to set us off our rocker and if we aren’t apt to adapt to change and be flexible with our plans, change can cause stress and anxiety. For some reason, we are creatures of the know, wanting to know exactly what is around the corner and in our future. Life is very unpredictable–darn it! The best way to approach unpredictable situations is to develop a sense of flexibility and “go with the flow” mentality. Continue to set long-term goals, but keep your plans adaptable, just in case life decides to get unpredictable on you!
PLAN: Get up and go to the gym 1st thing!
FLEXIBILITY: Darn it, wake up to a sick dog (no fun)– I will have to adjust and go to the gym after work!
PLAN: Bring my food with me to work, packed and ready to go!
FLEXIBILITY: Was in such a hurry, totally forgot my lunch in the refrigerator! I guess I will have to use my Emergency Tuna and rice cakes that I keep at my desk along with my bag of protein powder and almonds to get me through the day!
PLAN: I am excited to try those Tabata Treadmill Sprints on the treadmill tomorrow!!!
FLEXIBILITY: Shoot, all the Treadmills are taken, I guess I will have to do Tabata’s tomorrow and go with the step-mill today OR I can do the Tabata Sprints on the Step-mill!
PLAN: On this family Vacation I am set on brining my own snacks and sticking with my nutritional plan! Nothing is giong to get in my way!
FLEXIBILITY: The family decided to go out to Mexican Food and I am starving… I will have to order a healthy option and just go with the flow. I choose to be flexible because that is part of my plan. Ceviche over a house salad sounds delicious and will work just fine!
We find ourselves in Situations ALL the time that can cause us to be uncertain but if you learn to be flexible and adjust to whatever comes your way, you will see that flexibility is a big part of your plan! You will easily see that things happen but there is always a solution but you have to be willing to adjust to the situation.
We all have different things that motivate us and push us past our limits. As you know, it is my believe that that inner strength is so much of what allows us to accomplish our goals and reach our dreams. Through the process, we become better, stronger, accomplished individuals who prove to ourselves what we are truly made of and what we are capable of achieving. It is easy to say you can do something but it isn’t until you actually make a decision and put yourself to the test, when you grow and strengthen yourself, from the inside out.
This weekend was a motivating and inspiring weekend as I witnessed my husband run a 36.4 Mile Trail Run! As we strive to live this healthy lifestyle, day in and day out, it is important to have those around us that are continually pushing us to be better and leading by example, teaching life long lessons along the way. It is important to have those around you that you support and that support you in your goals, visions and dreams. Having the right support system allows you to make those dreams a reality!
Today I want to recognize those that inspire us and teach us to continually push ourselves to do things we never thought we could do. I want to get everyone thinking about their support system. My husband has been one of the best influences in my life because he really encourages me to reach my goals. Not only does he tell me I can reach my goals, but he leads by example and uses his own accomplishments to first handedly show me that anything you set your mind to is possible!
-Set your mind and you are the one to make it happen.
-We all have unlimited choices and we are the ones who have the ability to choose what choice to make.
-Don’t say you can’t do something, prove to yourself you can!
-Anything is possible if you set your mind to something and don’t allow for distractions.
-Sometimes the biggest life lessons and growth sessions are during challenges you never thought you could accomplish.
-Growing comes from pushing yourself past limits and through mental and physical barriers.
-One step at a time, one foot in front of another, you will get there if you just keep moving!
So who encourages you? What do they do to make your journey worthwhile? Have you thanked them lately for always being there?
CONGRATULATIONS ON SUCH AN AMAZING ACCOMPLISHMENT!!

A hearty meal prepared with fresh, healthy ingredients can warm anyone’s heart. Sharing food with people is an intimate occasion. As you drive along your road towards your dreams and victory, how far away do they seem? Do you see the outline of your victorious efforts in the near to far distance or do you not see them at all? Does the distance between you and that vision cause you to lose motivation and feel as if you have come so far but still have so far to go?
Often we forget that goals and dreams are not achieved overnight, but rather in a series of small steps. Just like your car, along your drive, it begins to lose fuel and you have to stop and refuel your tank. Each stop to the gas station is a time for you to refuel your tank but also a symbol of more miles driven. Those miles you are putting in are getting you closer and closer to your destination. Rather than seeing your dreams so far away and feeling defeated by the distance, see each “gas station” as a reflection of how far you have come and how much closer you are. Stop looking at the end result as what will make you happy but rather celebrate the stops along the way and the miles you are putting in. Make the most of drive and persevere. Remember that each stop and each refuel is taking you to your destination–destination Victory!
Long ago came about the understanding of the 4 elements of life, earth, water, fire and wind. These were considered the building blocks of the Universe, and many be believed that these were also elements that function within ourselves and are the building blocks of who we are!
Use these 4 elements of life as metaphors for all that encompasses our Foundation of living this Healthy Balanced Lifestyle.
*WATER: Train your mind to be like still water. Let your energy and attitude flow like water, around and over obstacles rather than through them with force. Detoxify your body with fresh water daily and when you can swim in the ocean to reconnect yourself with mother nature.
*EARTH: Eat foods that are close to the earth, such as organic veggies, grass fed beef, etc. This food has more nutrients, a higher energy and is not contaminated with the hormones and chemicals often used in the preparation of processed foods.
*WIND: Learn to breathe properly! Breath with slowed, controlled movements. It is one of the most beneficial skills to learn and develop – basic yet not easy to do without practice. Yoga is a great way to practice this technique and enhance your personal “wind”.
*FIRE: First, get outside and into the sun. We are like plants and need the sun for optimum health. Second, create your one personal, internal fire. Flush and detoxify your system with a great sweat, then replenish with a ton of fresh water. Third, be your own personal fire to find that inner motivation and allow your spirit and drive to light your flame!
People do not like to take risks but without risks, you can potentially let valuable opportunities pass by. It is human nature to want to only take risks if they offer the safe and comfort of having a guaranteed outcome. If that was the case then it wouldn’t be a risk, right!? If you go along your life avoiding risks, there are so many things you are missing out on! Opportunities require risks. Risks also allow you to see your true potential. If you want to change your current state, it is going to take a risk of changing your current actions or situations and that takes taking risks. Risks do not mean doing something without thought but rather having the courage to take the initial step, seeing things through and going for it. Rather than looking at what you may gain from taking risks, look at the things you may lose from NOT taking the risks. No matter what, it is inevitable that with risk comes personal growth and achievements and that is worth it in itself! Sometimes even if you take a risk and “fail”, you end up winning anyway, because you learn valuable lessons in the process and discover your abilities.
There is a satisfying feeling and a feeling of confidence you gain when you go for something that has risk involved. It is much easier to live, knowing that you have tried something rather than the regret of never doing something. Let go of excuses. When we are facing a challenge and the possibility of failing, our mind rationalizes our fears by coming up with hundreds of “logical” reasons not to do it. Take time to reflect which reasons are real and which ones pure excuses. And start taking risks today! The more you think about whether you should take a risk or not, the less likely you will not do it. Courage is not something we are born with. It is a quality that we develop with practice. Challenge your fears by starting to take small risks now!
